Animals have always held a special place in my heart — especially dogs.

Long before The Last Walk Project existed, I found myself continually drawn toward opportunities

to give back through pet portrait events, dog-centered fundraisers, and community projects

that celebrated the bond between people and their pets.

This project began with one special dog

named Gemma.

In October 2025, a friend of mine shared on social media that her sweet pitbull was nearing the end of her life. Although we had never met in person at the time, I immediately felt connected to her story and deeply compelled to document those final moments between her and Gemma.

What started as a simple act of love and compassion quickly became something much bigger.

After Gemma’s session, more families began reaching out for these same end-of-life sessions — many within a

very short amount of time. Again and again, I found myself being invited into some of the most emotional,

vulnerable, and meaningful moments a family can experience with their pet. It became impossible to

ignore just how important these sessions truly are.

The Last Walk Project was born from that feeling.

This project exists to honor the deep connection between people and the animals who walk beside them through every season of life. These sessions are created for families facing the heartbreaking reality that their time with their beloved companion may be coming to an end — whether due to illness, age, or an unexpected diagnosis.

This is not about perfection. It is about presence.

The quiet moments. The familiar routines. The way they look at you. The little noises they make.

The love that exists without words.

Through compassionate, documentary-style photography, The Last Walk Project aims to preserve those memories with honesty, gentleness, and care. These sessions allow space for grief, gratitude, laughter, love, and reflection — all existing together in the same moment.

Because they were never “just a pet.”
They are family.
And every story like that deserves to be remembered.
